  • So you want to write… But you find yourself constantly held back from indulging your writer self.

  • Often, all it takes to begin writing or keep writing is the permission to actually write. As simple as it sounds, this permission is so hard to come by, from others and from ourselves. 

  • Permission to Write is a two-hour group workshop for those who wish for the tender granting of permission to just write. We meet virtually once a month on a Saturday.

Permission to Write is NOT FOR YOU if…

  • You believe your writing needs an environment that offers harsh critical feedback. This is a nurturing workshop. The focus will be on the strengths of your creative process and writing.

  • You require instructions on ‘how to write’. We engage in generative exercises that connect you to your creativity. We write without prescribed rules. 

  • You’re looking for help with language and grammar. This workshop aims to foster the creative aspects of writing.

  • You wish to focus on the creative output. In this workshop, our main focus is on the writing process.

Embrace Your Writer Self!

  • The goal of the workshop is to freely give ourselves the permission to indulge in our most essential creative work.
  • We rely on our fellow writers to provide this permission when we aren’t able to do so for ourselves.
  • We chip away at the structures that hold this permission captive. 
  • We embrace our writer selves.
